CCUSBC Hall-of-Fame and Awards Criteria

Each year, we honor the bowlers and volunteers whose skill, service, and spirit elevate our community. These awards celebrate the achievements, dedication, and passion that define the heart of bowling.

Superior Performance

Awarded to a bowler who has demonstrated exceptional skill and competitive success in local tournaments, honor scores, and high averages, exemplifying outstanding performance in the sport.

Recognizes an individual who has significantly contributed to the advancement of certified bowling through dedicated service, leadership roles, and active involvement in promoting and sustaining the sport within the community.

Presented to a youth bowler (18 or younger) who exemplifies leadership, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and commitment to bowling, supported by a $500 scholarship and plaque.

Angie Rambeau
2023-2024
Female Bowler of the Year
Angie has one of the top five averages in CCUSBC. She was a member of the first place team at the Women’s City Tournament and took first place in the virtual singles. She placed third in doubles at the City Open and was the highest placing woman in the All Events category.
Charles 'Sonny' Sweet
2023-2024
Superior Performance
In 2004-08, Sonny earned several honor awards with his Superior Performance. The honor awards include 11-in-a-row, two 300 games, and one 800 series. He took second place in doubles in the 2006 City Tournament. He averaged 209 in a senior league in 2008.
Michael Bell
2021-2022
Male Bowler of the Year
Prior to the annual meeting for the 2021-22 bowling season, Mike took first place with his team and first place with one of his sons in Doubles in the CCUSBC Open Championship. Michael also took first place in his age group for the CCUSBC Senior Tournament.
Jennifer Dunbar
2022-2023
Female Bowler of the Year
This year, as well as the last few years, Jennifer has had the top woman average for CCUSBC with averages over 200 each of these years. Her current average is 207 for 2023.
Mike Boecher
2022-2023
Male Bowler of the Year
This year, as well as the last few years, Mike has been in the top five men averages for CCUSBC. Additionally, during the year Mike had one 300 game, one 800 series and 140 POA series awards.
Edward Rea
2023-2024
Male Bowler of the Year
Ed was a member of the team that took first place at the Men’s Invitational Tournament, a member of the team that took second place at the City Open, part of the second place duo at the City Open, and was first place All Events at the City Open.
Matt Putzer
2021-2022
Superior Performance
Matt was the 2021 City Tournament Scratch All Events winner. He has at least 12 sanctioned 300 games and 8 sanctioned 800 series. He also was in the top five association averages as recently as 2019-20 season.
Frank Reynolds
2022-2023
Meritorious Service
Frank has supported the youth programs in CCUSBC for many years. His support has included coaching, supporting tournaments, as well as providing financial assistance. Frank served in the Marine Corps and has been active in the Bowling for Veterans Link Committee and tournament soliciting raffle donations and related activities. Frank has also served on the CCUSBC Board for 5 years.
Deanne Wass
2021-2022
Meritorious Service
Deanne has committed 40+ years to bowling in the Carson City area. She joined the Capital City Women’s Bowling Association (CCWBA) in 1976 and in 1982 she became the director. She served as CCWBA’s first Vice President for 6 years, as well as being elected for a delegate for the Women’s National Tournament. In 1990, Deanne became president of the Tri-County YABA serving until the merge with Carson Country USBC (CCUSBC). With her dedicated service, she was given the honor of being a lifetime member of the CCWBA in 2003.
Don Simonian
2022-2023
Superior Performance
Don has more than 22 consecutive years sanctioned in CCUSBC. He has eight sanctioned 300 games, including back-to-back 300s, and one sanctioned 800 series in CCUSBC. In the last 22 years, he has averaged over 220 many times in CCUSBC with a composite average of 208. When not drilling bowling balls for the PBA or PBA50 Tours or working the weight room at the USBC National Tournament, Don is in Carson City bowling leagues, tournaments, and working at Carson Lanes.

What is induction criteria?

The induction criteria include outstanding achievements in bowling, contributions to the sport, and overall impact on the community. Candidates are evaluated based on their performance and dedication. A committee reviews nominations annually to ensure fairness.

How are nominees selected?

Nominees are selected through a nomination process open to members of CCUSBC. A dedicated committee reviews all submissions to ensure they meet the criteria. Final selections are made based on merit and contributions to bowling.

Is there a deadline?

Yes, nominations must be submitted by the specified deadline each year. The deadline for Hall-of-Fame nominations is January 15th of each year.

Can anyone nominate?

Any member in good standing of CCUSBC can nominate a candidate.

What is the process?

The process begins with submitting a nomination form along with supporting materials. The committee reviews all nominations and selects inductees based on established criteria. Inductees are honored at an annual ceremony.
